Sony announces "LinkBuds" with an open design that provides ambient sound Sony announces "LinkBuds" with an open design that provides ambient sound February 17, 2022by Martin 6 Sony today announced the launch of LinkBuds , the company's latest truly wireless earphones. LinkBuds have a unique open-air design that is unlike any other earphones on the market. Available in black or white, LinkBuds have a bead-shaped earpiece that fits in the ear. As with the AirPods 3 , no foam or silicone tips are included in the LinkBuds, with the bare earphones placed directly inside the ear.
The LinkBuds earpiece, which is an open-loop driver, allows C Level Executive List users to listen to music while hearing the environment, similar to other headphone products, such as sound-equipped sunglasses and bone conduction options. Because Sony's LinkBuds don't block out ambient noise, they're perfect for situations where listeners can be aware of their surroundings, such as walking, running, cycling and riding public transport. The headphones are placed in place of the secondary bulb, which has a slight back, and Sony describes them as ultra-small, light and able to stay in the ears.
They are IPX4 splash and sweat resistant, as well as an adaptive volume control feature that optimizes the music to the sound in the environment. The battery on the LinkBuds lasts for 5.5 hours, and the charging case provides a total of 17.5 hours of listening time.
